Write to [email protected] and describe what you were doing. Please do not attach the PDF — we cannot receive your documents and we do not want them.
Most questions have the same few answers, so try these first.
"It says my PDF has no text layer"
Your file is a scan — a photograph or scanner image of a page. There are no letters in it, only pixels. Converting it to Word would hand you an empty document, so we stop and say so instead.
This is the single most common outcome with real-world PDFs. To convert a scan you need OCR (optical character recognition), which this service does not do.
The compress tool works fine on scans — in fact scans are what it helps most.
"Compression said my file is already optimised"
Most of the weight in a PDF is its images. If your file has no images, or its images are already small, there is nothing to gain. Rather than hand you a file that is the same size or slightly larger, we return your original untouched.
"Some images were left untouched"
A PDF can store images in several encodings. We re-encode the common ones. Indexed-colour and 1-bit black-and-white scans are deliberately skipped: converting those to JPEG usually looks worse and often makes the file bigger. We tell you how many were skipped rather than quietly reporting a smaller gain.
"It won't remove my password"
You need to know the password. This service does not crack, guess or bypass passwords — it is for documents you already have the right to open.
If your file opens fine but you cannot print or copy from it, that is an owner restriction, not a password. Load the file and press "Remove password" with the field left empty; those restrictions come off without any password.
"The Word layout is wrong"
We rebuild the layout, we do not copy it. Headings, paragraphs and lists usually come out right. Multi-column pages, forms and table-heavy documents come out in a different order. Treat the result as an editable draft, not a facsimile.
"I lost my licence code"
The code is the only identifier — there are no accounts and we never asked for your email address. If you paid, write to us with the date and last four digits of the card and we will look it up with the payment processor.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs inside your browser. You can confirm it: open developer tools, go to the Network tab, and process a file. Nothing carrying your document leaves the page.
